Building Boooply

Why We Built an AI Hiring Platform (and How It Actually Works)
For thirty years, talent acquisition software has suffered from the same core flaw: ATS platforms were built to track pipeline status, not to evaluate human capability. They know who applied, who moved to the next round, and who was rejected. They have zero idea why.
The real intelligence the nuances of a candidate's problem-solving skills, their communication depth, the exact moments a hiring manager leaned in or pulled back disappears the second the Zoom call ends. It evaporates into scribbled notes, forgotten debriefs, and scorecards filled out three days later from memory.
We call this WDD: Where Data Dies. You know what happened to every candidate you interviewed last quarter. You just can't find it.
For a long time, companies simply absorbed this loss as a cost of doing business. But then the top of the funnel collapsed.
The Catalyst: Signal Collapse at the Top of Funnel
Over the last few years, AI application engines, resume polishers, and cover letter generators completely homogenized inbound applicant pools. Every resume began looking identical; perfectly formatted, optimized with every keyword, and completely stripped of authentic signal.
When top-of-funnel data became functionally useless as a predictor of candidate quality, we realized a hard truth: Prediction doesn't live on paper anymore. It lives in the conversation.
We built Boooply to capture that conversation. We wanted to create a platform that turns unstructured interview conversations into structured, permanent hiring intelligencewithout adding operational burden to busy recruiting teams.
Here is a look inside why we built Boooply, the technical philosophy behind it, and how the platform actually works under the hood.
Round 1: The AI Voice Interviewer
Traditional candidate screening forces a painful tradeoff: either recruiters spend 80% of their week running repetitive, surface-level phone screens, or they rely on cold, asynchronous one-way video forms that candidates hate.
Boooply replaces both with an interactive, spoken AI Voice Agent that conducts first-round interviews independently at any hour.
Natural Voice, Not a Form
The candidate enters an interview room and engages in a back-and-forth spoken conversation. The AI listens, understands, and responds naturally. It opens with friendly small talk to help nervous candidates settle in (an opening that is never scored), handles background noise gracefully, and manages its time smoothly.
Dynamic, Adaptive Probing
If a candidate answers a complex question with a rehearsed surface-level response, the AI doesn't just move to the next prompt. It digs deeper, asking specific follow-ups ("What actually broke in production?" or "Why did you choose that framework over the alternative?"). If a candidate struggles, the AI adjusts its tone, eases off, and offers subtle hints. Juniors are never overwhelmed, and seniors are never bored.
Question Rotation & Anti-Cheating
For high-volume hiring events, job fairs, or campus drives, candidate communities often leak interview questions. Boooply solves this by generating multiple equivalent variations of core questions and rotating them automatically across candidates, making leaked prompts completely useless.
Round 2: Unified Rubric Scoring (AI & Human)
An AI interview is only as valuable as the evaluation framework behind it. Most AI hiring tools operate as opaque "black boxes," issuing arbitrary match percentages without explanation. Boooply takes the opposite approach: evidence-based evaluation anchored to a single rubric.
The Core Rule: A candidate interviewed by our AI and a candidate interviewed live by your VP of Engineering are judged on the exact same criteria, using the exact same yardstick.
UNIFIED EVALUATION RUBRIC
| DIMENSION | AI EVALUATION RATIONALE | RATING |
|---|---|---|
| Technical Skills | "Demonstrated depth in distributed systems..." | [4/5] |
| Problem Solving | "Identified edge cases in high-load environments..." | [5/5] |
| Communication | "Clear explanation of architecture choices..." | [4/5] |
| Overall Dimension Score | Aggregated metric calculated across all role criteria. | [88/ 100] |
| Must-Have Check | "All non-negotiable criteria met." | [PASS] |
- Custom Job Rubrics: Each role is configured with specific scoring criteria rated on a 1-to-5 scale (from clear deficiency to complete mastery). Teams can generate rubrics instantly from a job description or convert existing interview guides without losing custom wording.
- Evidence, Not Assumptions: For every criterion, Boooply presents a score, a written rationale, and direct transcript quotes backing up the evaluation. If a skill was not discussed during the conversation, the system explicitly marks it as Not Assessed rather than fabricating a score.
- Human-in-the-Loop Control: Boooply suggests an initial recommendation (Strong Hire, Hire, No Hire), but the human recruiter or hiring manager always makes the final call.
- Live 1-to-1 Interview Scoring: When candidates move to live video interviews with human team members, interviewers fill out scorecards powered by the exact same rubric. To anchor evaluation and keep feedback structured, the AI’s suggested rating is pre-filled as a visible reference point for each criterion. Interviewers can easily adjust scores based on subtle in-the-room dynamics, capturing human judgment while maintaining full comparability across candidates.
Round 3: Built for In-House Teams, Agencies, and High-Volume Scale
Boooply is designed to adapt to complex, real-world hiring workflows rather than forcing companies to change how they operate.
- Agency & Client Workspaces: Built around a native Client → Project → Job hierarchy. Staffing agencies can share password-protected shortlist links with their clients complete with candidate summaries, video snippets, and evaluation scores allowing clients to review and mark candidates as Interested or Pass without requiring a login.
- High-Volume Hiring Events: Dedicated event infrastructure handles sudden application rushes for campus recruiting or apprenticeship intakes. Built-in email verification, automated time-zone booking, bot protection, and live event leaderboards keep high-volume hiring organized and fast.
- Connected Team Intelligence: An integrated AI Assistant sits inside the platform and team chat. Recruiters can query candidate history, draft job descriptions, compare top performers, and pull pipeline analytics using conversational commands.
Privacy, Compliance, and Data Integrity
Hiring tools require uncompromised data ethics. Boooply was designed from day one to operate within modern global regulatory frameworks, including GDPR and Kosovo's Law on Protection of Personal Data (LPPD).
- Strict Consent Controls: Every candidate receives clear, versioned privacy disclaimers and explicit notification that they are speaking with an AI agent before recording begins.
- Self-Service Candidate Rights: Candidates can access a dedicated portal to view, download, or permanently erase their data and media files without creating an account.
- Zero Model-Training Exposure: Your candidate evaluation data is your proprietary asset. Boooply never uses your candidate conversations or scoring histories to train shared third-party AI models.
- EU Infrastructure Sovereignty: Core server infrastructure and media storage are confirmed and hosted strictly within EU data centers.
The Result: Hiring Intelligence That Compounds Over Time
By moving past superficial resume screens and capturing structured evaluation data at every step, Boooply turns your hiring workflow into an asset that grows more valuable with every interview.
Instead of losing candidate signals to memory, teams gain a searchable, permanent database of hiring intelligence, allowing them to make defensible, data-backed decisions every time.
